ARTIST NOTE:
What does the mindworld look like before it’s distilled into utility? There are shapes and figures, voices and memories, amorphous feelings and dubious associations, in a melting pot in space and time. An egg with a face, a vortex locked away behind the eyes and nose and mouth and ears, it’s a maelstrom of perception and conception, giving birth to reality as we know it. It is language and it is not. It is words, legible and illegible, absurd birds, stick-figure-contractors, hieroglyphs and unknown scripts, chess pieces, abstract splodges and organic splatters, maths proofs, sports scores, snails and clocks and skeletons, quotes and misquotes, notes-to-self, notes from notebooks, from films, from the internet, from conversations, from who-knows-where and anywhere. If you can read there are stories, or call it perhaps continuity, or even consequences. We think, and there it is. These are things that carry the effort that is put into them, if they carry anything at all. Call it a snapshot or an archive, it builds on collage poetry and asemic poetry, concrete poetry and visual poetry. It is writing, marking, drawing. It is a map of the mind’s thoughts gathered in a cloud.
